bio
Mary Kula is a Los Angeles-based painter. Growing up in the Chicago area, she often escaped to The Art Institute of Chicago, for inspiration and her personal introduction to the importance of art. Kula majored in Fine Arts at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her job as a make-up artist took her to Los Angeles where she now resides. The city’s colorful environment continues to stimulate her and inform her painting. In addition, Kula is an avid bird watcher and photographer. She often uses her photos of California’s birds as a reference for her art. With expressionistic brush strokes and vibrant color, Kula’s paintings evoke her passion for both nature and paint itself.
